BOB1

Hi-Plains School District hosted a Battle of the Books competition on March 24, 2025 for schools within the EC-BOCES area. Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program where students read books from a designated list and then compete in teams by answering questions about the books. The goal of Battle of the Books is to encourage students to read and foster a love for literature while engaging is a fun, competitive activity. In addition, it is a wonderful way for students to work together to demonstrate their knowledge and reading comprehension.

Approximately 100 Elementary/Middle School aged students from twelve schools participated in the event. To start, teams competed in (4) Rounds where their scores were recorded, then added up to discover the Top 4 teams in each division. Each Round consisted of (24) questions. After the initial rounds, the Hi-Plains Elementary team was 1st, followed by the Kit Carson/Karval Elementary team. These two teams "battled" in the Championship Round where the score went back and forth several times, with Hi-Plains emerging as the 1st Place team. This round in particular proved to be a true battle in which each team demonstrated poise and confidence. We are proud of our Patriots and wish a congratulations to all!
