On Wednesday September 17th students from the soil science class, and Freshmen principals class, plus a few extra passionate members participated in the Regional Range Judging event held in New Raymer. Range is a very practical career development event (CDE) for students that live out in the eastern plains. Students identify different range plants and assess two range sites. They assigned condition scores, calculated stocking rates, and provided management practice recommendations. While students waited for results they heard about job opportunities from several different natural resources agencies, as well as watched wind or water erosion simulations.
Our Beginner team placed third overall. Individually Gold placings within Hi-Plains were Shelby Babbitt, Genevieve Church, and Caleb Tanner. Silver Placing were Jack Gorton. Bronze placing were Atrix Cochran.
Our Advance team placed second overall with individual placing gold were Brianna Rueb. Brianna also received the highest ID score for the contest.
Other range participants included: LeAnn Tanner, Shelley Church, Leilani Collins, Maggie Gorton, Jacey Church, Emma Goodwin, Astian Collins, Dalilah McCaffrey, and Peyton Gaston.
Thank you to everyone that helps with the contest, it takes a lot of people.
