Hi-Plains FFA members competed on October 8th at State Range. Over 250 students were registered from 26 schools.
During range students identify different range plants and assess two range sites. They assigned condition scores, calculated stocking rates, and provided management practice recommendations. While students waited for results they heard from Levi Kokes about how he uses virtual fencing to help improve his rangeland and operation.
Hi-Plains Advanced team members were Brianna, LeAnn and Leilani. Overall the team placed Bronze. Brianna Rueb placed 5th overall, and LeAnn Tanner received Silver.
Our beginner team members were Shelby, Genevieve, Jacey, Astian, Peyton, Emma, Jack, Dalilah, and Caleb. Hi-Plains placed 8th over 26 teams. Silver placing was Jack and Genevieve. Gold placing was Shelby.
We could not have a successful contest without the help of various volunteers and supporters.
